Please note that the date we have secured to play Mission Inn is only a few days before the FHSAA High School State Championships will take place. The venue is always exceptionally well maintained but on this date should be at its exquisite best! If you are a High School player lucky enough to make it to the Florida High School State Championships why not come play with HJT and get a practice round in while playing against a strong field of talented junior players?

The FHSAA State Championships for qualifying High School Boys is played at Mission Inn over the El Campeon Course and for qualifying High School Girls is played over the Las Colinas Course. Both provide an exceptional challenge. For our HJT Competition we have secured a limited number of tee times on BOTH courses and we will allocate tee times accordingly ie. Girls – Las Colinas and Boys- El Campeon. If any golfer would prefer to change the course allocated we can only try to do this if you advise us 72 hours or more before the event. We cannot guarantee this and will confirm by email if it has been possible to do so.

El Campeon

Once in a while an opportunity arises to take our talented young golfers to a venue that truly is something special indeed! In this case it is Mission Inn. Boasting a wonderful history and a really impressive list of events that return there year after year we agree that it  deserves its awarded title of Florida’s Number 1 and its place as one of the top 25 in the country! Read more below from Mission Inn website:

Surrounded by an abundance of natural Florida beauty, the El Campeón 18-hole championship course was designed by Chicago-based course architect, George O’Neil and built in 1917 – with further enhancements in 1926 by Charles E. Clarke of Troon, Scotland.

El Campeón is one of the South’s oldest golf courses and blends unusual Central Florida elevation changes of more than 85 feet with features of traditional golf design, including spectacular rolling fairways and undulating greens.

The course’s signature hole is the par 5, 17th hole – which features a long double dogleg that has more obstacles than some entire courses!

Las Colinas

Designed by Gary Koch and built in 1992, Las Colinas (Spanish for “the hills”) is an 18-hole championship course that offers quite a different challenge from El Campeón. It is an inland links design with generous, wide-open fairways, gentle rolling hills and large, undulating greens. Play a Top power ranked U.S. course on GolfAdvisor – Las Colinas (#3) – April 2017.

Las Colinas was nominated as “Best New Resort Course” by Golf Digest on opening, named “Best Places to Play – 4 stars” by Golf Digest, and has received “Top Fairways” recognition by Golf for Women. Its signature hole is “Alligator Alley”, the par 5, 12th hole that spans 493 yards along a tree-lined fairway and requires absolute accuracy from tee-to-green.

More venue info:

There are two championship courses at Mission Inn, one of Florida’s top golf resorts, that provide exceptional challenge and play. The golf experience is truly remarkable from the scenery—hills that roll and pitch, mature pine and magnolia trees that tower, eagles and ospreys that fly overhead. The terrain of this part of Central Florida, originally orange groves, provides up to 85 ft. elevation changes and a peaceful ambiance void of fairway houses and condos.

Mission Inn’s two championship courses have assembled an impressive list of accolades and achievements, having hosted over 20 consecutive years of NCAA Championships, 8 years of Florida State High School Championships, US Open and US Amateur qualifying, FSGA Championships, and many acclaimed junior and college tournaments. El Campeón is honored to be selected by the PGA TOUR as the U.S. qualifying venue for the PGA Latinoamerican and Canadian / Mackenzie Tours. These events will be held each Spring at Mission Inn. Additionally, El Campeón is the ranked #1 course in Florida since 2012 by Golf Channel’s GolfAdvisor. Mission Inn is also a favorite commercial filming location, having hosted several PGA TOUR and Golf Channel specials, together with international golf advertisers such as Callaway, Dick’s Sports, CDW, Astellas Pharmaceuticals, Grip Boost, and Audi.

Spend the day challenging one of Florida’s oldest course, El Campeón known for his steep hills and required shotmaking skills or play among the rolling hills and sweeping fairways of the Las Colinas Course. Both are quality 18-hole championship courses that have earned their share of accolades from members and resort guests alike. Come and stay over as a resort guest on specially designed golf packages or drive in with your friends for a remarkable 36 holes of golf and lunch at Nicker’s restaurant!

Callum the Wee Highland Coo!

After the success of our previous events for our Wee Highlander under 8’s we are really excited to be adding another Wee Highlanders Tour competition to our schedule of events.

Each of our Wee Highlanders events is tailored to our youngest golfers to ensure they can enjoy a fun competitive match perfectly suited to their age and ability. Each event will be played over 6 holes with junior course yardages in place and each competition winner will be presented with an exclusive Highlanders medal.

We anticipate that this event will be popular and enjoyable for all participants. From a development perspective we believe we can help provide that stepping stone to integrating these youngest players into

playing competitive junior golf on The Highlander Junior Tour as they advance in age and become more confident and more competent golfers.

We are happy to announce this Wee Highlander competition will take place on Saturday November 7th. at Eagle Ridge GC at 1.30pm.

GC and cost will be $25 per player including range balls for all players. Carts are available for rent separately by accompanying parents at the venue and all players are encouraged to ride with parents. Parents are permitted to advise/caddy for players. Safety is our priority and all necessary social distancing measures will be in place for this event.

We hope to see you at Eagle Ridge GC for this next Wee Highlanders Tour Event. More info on Eagle Ridge GC  HERE

The Champion Golfer 2020 Claret Jug
The Claret Jug at Harbor Hills

Its always a great pleasure to return to Harbor Hills Country Club with our group of talented junior players.

Harbor Hills was recently host venue for the PGA Tour (LatinoAmerica) LOCALiQ competition where 144 professionals battled it out for a place in the final season event in The Bahamas.

Highlander Junior Tour were delighted to play at Harbor Hills immediately after the event concluded and its fair to say that scoring was about as tough for our players as it’s been anywhere this year! We hope you are ready to get back there and give it your best once again?

Tom Leimberger, Krista and the team work extremely hard to support junior golf in our community and they always provide a fine welcome to our Tour. Harbor Hills is deceptively challenging and it always proves tough for most of the field to post their lowest numbers. Lots of elevation changes and usually a firm breeze contribute to that!

Harbor Hills has always provided us with quite a few great moments, fine individual performances and some wonderfully competitive junior golf. You really don’t want to miss out on this one and we advise you register as early as you can!
